I know we shouldn’t laugh, if it was George Best or Paul Gasgoine I’d be desperately sad that a once fabulous footballer had let himself go and was struggling with such demons but Diego Maradona was an odious little cheat, and I don’t just mean the “hand of God” when he punched the ball over Peter Shilton in the World Cup final before scoring one of the greatest individual goals ever. He spent his best years playing for Napoli high on drugs which means he cheated every one of those seasons.
I’m sorry I have no pity for the guy. He is not fit to lace Messi’s boots in my opinion.
