Why is grated cheese exciting? I love cheese but there is a childlike excitement in having grated cheese. Just saying.
I rather think the pleasure is in the grating itself and if I am ever having cheese-on-toast from under the grill, I much prefer it to be the melting of cheese slices.

Great observation. Might I venture that grating increases surface area and hence the pungency and flavour intensity.
I’m with you Motco. I said to a friend the other day I wish they did grated blue cheese! That would be a fridge must have!

I hate grating cheese, I always get the husband to do it.
